Exhibiting at Expo City Dubai in 2026: what's actually changed.

Expo City Dubai has matured from "the old Expo 2020 site" into a working exhibition venue picking up more major shows each season. Here is what is different from DWTC, and what that means for the way you plan a stand.

Several shows that historically ran at DWTC have moved or duplicated dates at Expo City Dubai in 2026. Some of the reasons are practical (more floor space, fewer columns, better parking) and some are political: the venue wants to keep the post-Expo infrastructure earning. Either way, exhibitors are increasingly having to plan stands for a venue with its own house style.

Three things that are genuinely different

Location and access

Expo City sits between Dubai and Abu Dhabi off Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, with a dedicated Metro station. Travel time from central Dubai is longer than DWTC, but parking and arrivals are vastly easier.

Halls and pavilions

The exhibition halls are newer, taller and column-light. Many shows also use the legacy Expo 2020 pavilions for hospitality and side events. That is useful, but these pavilions have their own house rules.

Sustainability requirements

Expo City actively pushes reusable, low-waste stands. Some shows now require a sustainability brief at submission. Modular systems and reusable graphics are now the default, not a bonus.

What this means for stand design

The taller halls invite double-decker and structural designs that would feel cramped at DWTC. That freedom comes with stricter structural review and a stronger nudge toward reusable materials. Designs that lean on heavy joinery and one-show graphics tend to cost more here than the equivalent DWTC build, not because labour is dearer, but because the sustainability and waste rules push back.

Planning checklist for Expo City

  • Confirm which hall or pavilion your show is using, because Expo City rules vary between buildings.
  • Plan crew transport. Drive times from Dubai contractor yards are longer; build days start earlier.
  • Use modular substructures and reusable graphics where possible. Both shorten approvals and reduce waste fees.
  • Brief hospitality early if you plan to use a legacy pavilion for VIP dinners or side events.
  • Confirm Metro access for delegate-facing communications. It is a genuine selling point for visitors.

How Nova Elite works at Expo City

We design and build for Expo City using modular substructures, reusable graphic panels and joinery details that can come apart cleanly at dismantle. The result is a stand that opens on time, passes the venue's sustainability brief, and survives more than one show.
